Grieving Before Goodbye: Finding God in the Slow Goodbye of Anticipatory Grief

Sometimes grief begins long before the goodbye.

When someone we love is aging, seriously ill, changing, or nearing the end of a season of life, we can begin grieving while they are still here. This is often called anticipatory grief—the complicated mixture of sadness, fear, love, and uncertainty that can accompany an approaching loss.

In Grieving Before Goodbye, we explore what it means to grieve someone before they're gone, why these feelings can be so difficult to understand, and how we can make room for both grief and gratitude while we still have time together.

You don't have to rush through these feelings or find the perfect words for them. Sometimes the invitation is simply to notice what is happening within you—and to be present for the moments you still have.

Come sit with us at Manna & Mint, where ordinary life feels sacred again.
